Come, relax and enjoy the ride!

I am excited to open my own cycling studio, Sol Pedal. To be doing what I love and have loved for the past 6 years is a blessing. Many of you have ridden many miles with me, so come back and lets travel together. Time flies as we cycle to an eclectic mix of music. I created the studio to be funky and fun, a place where you feel surrounded by happy, healthy energy.

So join the Ride. Its the only hour of your day that you can completely get away. We sweat, sing along, push each other and have a blast. Sure it's exercise, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun! After all, life is what you make it!

There is good and bad, hope and fear in all we do. If you are doing things for the right reasons, the light will shine through.

Take time to work, it is the price of success.
Take time to think, it is the source of power.
Take time to play, it is the secret to perpetual youth.
Take time to read, it is the foundation of wisdom.
Take time to pray, it is conversation with God.
Take time to be friendly, it is the road to happiness.
Take time to listen, it is the pathway to understanding.
Take time to dream, it is hitching your wagon to a star.
Take time to look around, it is too short a day to be selfish.
Take time to laugh, it is the music of the soul.
Take time to worship, it is the highway of reverence.
Take time to love and be loved, it is the gift of God. ~ Old English Prayer, Author Unknown

A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle. ~ Benjamin Franklin

It is easy to get wrapped up in ourselves and not think about others and the big picture. Reach out or let others reach to you. It is give and take, push and pull that unwraps us from that tight bundle.

Friday, August 20

If anyone had asked me how I would celebrate my 40th birthday 20, 10, five, or even just one year ago, the answer would definitely not be hosting a private indoor cycling party for a group of my friends. But that is exactly how I rang in my fourth decade, and I loved every minute of it.
Despite my initial reticence, I have become part of a growing a legion of 'spinsters' -- a group of devout indoor cyclists with varying ranges of ability whose entire week revolves around signing up for classes. What is it about today’s indoor cycling programs that is so addictive, and are there any downsides to this intense, full-body cardio experience? from www.WebMD.com

Change is never easy, you fight to hold on and you fight to let go. ~ The Wonder Years

Holding on to the summer or letting it go for the upcoming school year? Change is tough sometimes for kids and adults. We get used to one way of living and then have to readjust for another way. Bottom line, everything changes and that is what makes us grow. Make a commitment to change or at least be open to it. Back to School Free week - release the tension that sometimes comes with change.

Happiness is simple. Everything we do to find it is complicated. ~ Karen Maezen Miller

We plan for it. We talk about it. We work toward it. We look for it. We try to create it. We try to enhance it. We hope to discover it. We hope to hold onto it. Sometimes we make happiness exhausting. ~ http://www.tinybuddha.com/

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

Heading back the warm summer state of Florida today after a great week in not so warm, but beautiful state of California. The children had a blast with their friends and we got to see all the "hot spots" of LA (thanks to our gracious hosts).
I tried lots of new exercises classes and am ready to share some of my new knowledge with all of you.
It is nice to be in a different environment and see how similar things and people really are. This large world does not seem so big when you travel and meet people and see we are all going through the same stuff - kids, health, marriage, careers. It has been a fabulous week - I look forward to seeing all my Sol Pedalers tomorrow - back in the saddle!

"The traveler was active; he went strenuously in search of people, of adventure, of experience. The tourist is passive; he expects interesting things to happen to him. He goes 'sight-seeing.'" ~ Daniel J. Boorstin

Always try and be the traveler. Well, after re-reading, there are times to be the tourist - it is fun just to sit back and see new things and let things organically fall into place. Find the balance. A good mix of both is needed when we venture out to experience new and old things. Whatever you do, get out...see...feel...live. Be active, be passive.

"The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another." ~ William James

Find yourself stressed or worried? Sometimes it just takes switching our perspective and making our mind up to be positive. You can muddle through your day with a horrible attitude and nothing will seem enjoyable and your health will be at risk. Why not wake up, stretch and smile. It may not solve all of the issues that come up in your day, but they will seem more manageable.

It is what makes us unique and different from the rest. Share your special talents and be proud of what you create in your home, job, career, and life!

The calendar on your wall is ticking the days off
You've been reading some old letters
You smile and think how much you've changed
All the money in the world
Couldn't bring back those days.
You pull back the curtains, and the sun burns into your eyes,
You watch a plane flying across a clear blue sky.
THIS IS THE DAY -- Your life will surely change.
THIS IS THE DAY -- Your life will surely change." ~ The The

Make a change today. Doesn't have to be something drastic just a little something - your nail color, way you part your hair, the route you take to work. Change is good. Embrace it.

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find, you get what you need." ~ The Rolling Stones

How much or what do we actually need? We could all get by with a little less of this and that.

When given any gift, my grandmother-in-law would always say, "Oh, just what I needed." It was really cute - nice to hear, even if it was the last thing she needed - another pair or slippers or gown.

Guess it rings true in all areas of our lives. We fill our days with stuff that we probably don't have to have but that we think we need. Make a list of your wants and then your actual needs - see how they compare. After careful review, you probably will find have just what you need.

"What about all those things you could have done? They say things happen for a reason and if you don't do them, they won't...looking for life, love and laughter - everything in between and what happens after. Dreams are worth more than gold, some people hold on, some people let go." ~ Donavon Frankenreiter
It takes a combination of it all, just like stated in this song. I visited my parents this weekend and we took my kids and my nieces to Six Flags. Besides being extremely hot and crowded, the kids had the best time. Ok, I admit I did too. We laughed, squeezed each others hand with anticipation, screamed with excitement and fear - a variety of emotions - it was great to see it and feel it. Then as we packed up the car and headed back to FL yesterday, they both had tears in there eyes. Life is like that, a series of emotions and it is beautiful how a child can easily display their emotions without holding back. Look for
Life
Love and
Laughter
and everything in between.
